52 Weeks of Corgis in 2011 – Series 6/52
Dockers – February 25, 2011 at 3:27:02 PM
Home for Birthdays
It’s been a rough couple of weeks. We brought Dockers home Friday, February 25 – his birthday. He’s on a long road to recovery. Although you cannot see the other side of his face in this image, it’s all torn up. The swelling on his neck went down. For days it looked like he had a tennis ball in his throat, it was so swollen. His front legs, chest and one of his ears are beaten up pretty bad.
We are so fortunate that neither Dockers or Nikita lost or damaged their eyes.
More than anything, we are so fortunate that we did not lose Dockers.
His chances were not good when he was first admitted. Two plasma transfusions and over 5 days in critical condition was a challenge for our boy and our nerves. It’s a long story that I’ll slowly share. Nikita was both nervous and happy of Docker’s homecoming. Isn’t that something? A near death brawl and bygones are bygones.
A struggle for alpha status is happening here. It seems to heighten when they think we’re leaving out of town. Even though I took great measures to hide from them that I was leaving town, not Hubby – it didn’t calm their anxieties – they saw right through me. From now on, our happy family will need to be separated.
My Dockers, on the mend and slowly recovering in Home for Birthdays.
