The summer evenings have been beautiful these days, especially because it's a time when we finally get to cool down from the day's uncomfortable searing heat. Last night we were enjoying the last shimmers of light before the sun was out of sight when out of the corner of my eye I see something rather large moving in a most peculiar place. I had to do a double-take! Walking down the side of the house was an eight-legged guest — a smaller-sized tarantula! I've never really seen one outside of a glass-case. I gasped as I jumped up to run inside the house to turn on a light and grab a flashlight. I had to see it better!! The Corgi-Boyz heard me and mistook my surprise for alarm.
The rest of the evening we sat in a place to watch (or was it admire?) our new found arachnid guest. While Dockers and Cody were oblivious to its presence, Nikita kept his eye on it. It was cute — I'm not sure if he was watching with new found interest too, or if his interest was in my mis-read initial response to it.
While I was amazed by the tarantula — I'm hoping he decides he likes it outside better, rather than trying to mosey on into the house. I think my response would be quite different!
