We were out of town last weekend. Before we left, I could feel some tension in the air between Nikita and Dockers and could not seem to intervene to smooth things over. Usually I can get the two to put aside their differences with our ball playing and evening pack visits in the house. I don't know or understand the exchanges that happen before me between the two. There are just times when Nikita is moody with the very presence of Dockers. I'm not saying Dockers is the innocent, but I don't visibly notice his aggression or behavior that provokes Nikita's retaliation.
It's a stressful matter to go away for a couple of days. If it's not Cody pulling a Houdini act (which is a lot better now, but I still worry) or the two elders tearing at each other. Our sitter reported that everything was good. I knew before we even pulled up to the house in our car that something was amiss. Dockers wasn't in sight to greet us. As hubby opens the door Nikita and Cody exuberantly greet us, but no Dockers. I'm panicked. "Where is Dockers?" Three calls for Dockers and he appears. Hubby says he's fine. I could tell in a millisecond glance that something was wrong. First Nikita. Face slightly swollen. Then, Dockers. Stiffly moving and fur all sticky, side gash on his muzzle.
Too cold to give the kids a bath. I sponge them down with warm water and inspect wounds and stiff muscles. I think they thoroughly enjoyed it.
I love my boyz…but there's never a dull moment. Maybe this is a case for the Dog Whisperer?
