Years ago, while walking into our garage (when our Dockers was still just a wee pup) – I stumbled upon a huge bag of dog food we had in the garage, opened, on the floor, and the backend of a little corgi puppy sticking out of the bag. Yes. You guessed it! Dockers had opened the bag and was enjoying Hog Haven as he ate his way to gluteny. I pulled him out of the bag. He looked exhausted. His belly was hard as a mellon and just as large. I was afraid he was going to pop! The next day we didn’t feed him and kept a close eye on him in fear that he would be sick. Although the circumstances could’ve been concerning, it was a cute story that we often lovingly refer to — that our very perfect and good corgi puppy did something so out of character to what he is now. He never pulled that stunt again . . . I think he realized that it wasn’t worth it.
However. We must not have learned our lesson. We are trying to bestow some trust and slowly let Cody out alone in our yard in little chunks of time. So far, he’s been really good. But we have to remember, he is a puppy and puppies are curious, full of energy and Chow Hounds! Again, different house but in the garage, I find a corgi puppy starting to tear through a large bag of dog food again. Caught the little cutie on time!
