We were a little worried how our boys (Dockers and Nikita) would take to a new member being added to our family. It’s so much easier bringing in a puppy rather than an older dog. We were really pleased at how patient and tolerant they are with the puppy and how much they help train him about how things are, not only in their heirarchy, but with us too.
Dockers remains our Alpha and I’m sooo happy that Nikita has taken on the role of Beta — he watches over the puppy and displays the sweetest affections and gentleness. The puppy has learned quickly about bite inhibition with the other boys and he is much gentler in his play with us. His little milk teeth were killers when we first brought him home.
There’s another thing I’m already missing (and all too soon) is his play with little teeth. Puppies make little play, growly noises and he’s already doing that less and less [sigh].
