“Autumn Ballerina”
I recently came across another very talented artist who includes the Pembroke Welsh Corgi in some of her art pieces. Atlanta-based illustrator, Joie Brown of JoeArt.net has beautifully illustrated the above work, Autumn Ballerina. Joie has recently been accepted into the Master’s Program of Illustration at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California, and the above-referenced piece has been accepted into the Kennesaw State University 7th Biennial Visual Arts Exhibition. Congratulations to Joie for both her Graduate School news and being featured in the exhibition!
I asked Joie about her inspiration for using the Corgi in some of her work. This is what she shared with Corgi Tales:
I first saw Corgis in one of the AKC dog shows, and then later when got to meet one in person and it was all over. I’m a corgi-lover for life! I do own my own corgi, and she’s just as sweet as pie! Her name is Rylee, and she’s about a year and a half old. She’s extremely precocious and demanding; she must always be the center of attention! She’s highly intelligent, and sometimes too much so for her own good. We call her “Rylee the Rocket Pig” because she “rockets around” quite a lot, and apparently looked like a pig to my father.
A couple more pieces featuring corgis:
- Personal Crests
- Mermaids and Nerds with Corgis (I can identify with this one!)
A very special thank-you to Joie for sharing your beautiful art and for allowing me to include some of your Corgi pieces on Corgi Tales. Please visit Joie’s Website and Art Gallery at JoieArt.net to see more of her talents and note that she does do commissions (which would make beautiful gift(s) for the upcoming holiday season!).
